Detailed description

News:

1. Two reminders

Now it is possible to have two reminders per event.

2. Improved layout from Android 4 (or later versions)

The layout has been heavily modernized for devices running Android 4 or later. The view for editing events now follows the look and feel of the operating system version. The same behavior also is valid for popup messages. Therefore our application now has a more modern and attractive layout on devices running Android 4 or later.  On devices running versions prior to Android 4, the layout change is not that heavy, although we also have made minor adjustments for these versions.

We also have introduced a new layout using Android “action bars”. This includes a standard menu with a standard button on the top of the screen, rather than the two legacy buttons used to switch months/days. In addition, you get a bottom bar with action buttons on most devices. You can press the bottom bar buttons with your thumb when holding your device with one hand. On devices with larger screens with more space for the top action bar, Android instead places all buttons/selections on the top bar. The reason is twofold: There is more space on the top bar, and the device is probably too large to hold in one hand.

We do not want to force the new action-bar layout to anyone. Therefore you have to uncheck “Old user interface” in our app settings to enable the new layout. Of course you can re-enable the old user interface anytime you want.

3. Heavily improved event repetitions

A new extended set of standard repetitions is introduced. In addition the user can set-up almost any kind of own repetition. For instance, weekly repetitions on selected weekdays can be specified. Repetitions can also be specified to end on a specific date, or end after a specific number of instances.

4. Individual event colors for Google accounts on Android 4.0.3 (or later)

Individual event colors now can be selected when using Google accounts on devices running Android 4.0.3 or later. Unfortunately this does not work for other account types, such as “PC sync”, “Facebook” or “Samsung”. The reason is that only Google has implemented event colors.

Google calendar also has some restrictions:

a.     You can only select between Google’s own predefined event colors.

b.     There is no way to reset the event color to “default color for account” after selecting an individual event color from an Android unit. You have to make a new event with the same data (except for the event color) to get an event with the default calendar color in this situation.

If you want, event colors can be turned off in the app settings.

5. Day view symbols

Now the day view shows symbols in the right margin to indicate event recurrence and event reminders. These symbols can be turned off in the app settings.

Improvements:

1. Question about saving when back button is pressed after changes

Now a save confirmation dialog is shown when pressing back button after editing an event, or after selecting calendar accounts.

2. Calendar account in the day view now can be hidden

The numeric calendar identity within the day view now is removed. However, some customers do not want to see this account specification at all. Therefore a new setting is added to turn off the calendar account from the day view.

3. Declined event invitations now are hidden

From now on, declined event invitations are not shown in our app. Note that Facebook declined events still are visible, since the Facebook account does not provide us with declined status information. Also note that our app currently does not support answering invitations, or showing status for invited participants.  However, we show non-declined invitations as events in our calendar.

4. Faster month switching

We have optimized switching months and switching days. Now the month switching is almost twice as fast as before.

5. Miscellaneous

A set of additional minor adjustments and improvements has been done.

Corrected errors:

1. Sporadic double-tap problem is corrected

Sometimes double-tapping to switch between month overview and the normal month view could fail. When this happens you will enter the day view directly after switching month view. This error is corrected.

2. Search function corrections

In the search view the list now will be scrolled both backwards and forwards to the position corresponding to the current date, when the home button is pressed. Previously only backwards scrolling was implemented when pressing the button.
